What about the first month?

On Sunday, November 2nd, it was already one month I am here. Wow! By the way, do you know why time flies so fast? Because of feeling good, comfortable and being surrounded by nice, friendly, helpful people. Yeah, it is that time.

I think that even in one month I saw a lot of places here thanks for my friends but of course here are still many things to see and do. One of my favourite places is Stolby. It is stunning place in each season.

When I came one of first things I needed were cacti/succulents. I know maybe it sounds weird! I bought three and later another two. It just makes me feel better. Soon, I will buy also few other plants and I started growing my own avocado plant (it takes time, but I do it everytime and everywhere I am – I look forward to small avocado baby plant. I will write my update in two months probably). If you like eating avocado, do not throw away the pit, but make your own avocado plant. 🙂

I visited Museum Centre – Ploshad Mira, where are cool exhibitions as well as in city and during events. We were talking a lot what we see and feel in arts with Elena, I really liked it. Actually, on this Saturday, we had Museum Night and we prepared some activities for people – What is the most effective language?

I always have funny and beautiful memories from my days. Even when I am waiting for a bus, older ladies are nice and talkative – long story short – raining but no covered roof, old lady crossing the street on red light or just information about street or time. Once, I was walking in city centre and one lady asked me about time, I answered her, but then I understood her mobile did not work – I mean, the right date and time – I wanted to help her but it was a bit hard to search in different mobile settings because it was in Russian, but I managed it! Correct time and date. We were talking a bit in way of my language skills. Also small things, like I was in restaurant and the man in cloakroom understood the language barrier and we started speaking in English and he knows our hockey player Peter Bondra! I am really glad he remembers our player from Slovakia. Or can you image waiting with your friend on green light on traffic light and by nice coincidence, for first time you meet previous volunteer who was few years ago in Slovakia? I love those moments.

Arrival in the morning

I arrived early in the morning on Tuesday, October 2nd, to Krasnoyarsk. I was really tired from my journey as it did not go so well all the time but I had beautiful welcoming from my mentor Elena :). That feeling when you are tired, but you see someone who is waiting for you with smile and nice poster with your name, you immediately forget about being tired. She took me to my host family Maria, we were talking a bit and went sleep. That day, I was still confused which day actually is which was funny. Elena helped me first days with basic stuff I needed. Next days I visited INTERRA, where I will stay 10 months doing my ESC.

At the beginning of September I came home from Latvia as I was doing my 3 months internship in digital marketing agency. I studied Agrarian Trade and Marketing in Slovakia for two years, while first year I was studying as Erasmus+ student in Latvia.

I can speak in my native language, Slovak, as well as full understanding of Czech language (unfortunately, only passive way). I can speak also English and I am learning Russian nowadays.

My free time last 3 years was filled by volunteering in Erasmus Student Network in my country. I like being in international environment. Our section in university, we were doing some events to connect foreign students together with local places. Last half a year, I am doing PR and in free time I love traveling. I look forward to see places in Krasnoyarsk, especially nature.

I am glad to be here in Krasnoyarsk, making presentations about my country and different topics and various projects in INTERRA. I am first time in Russia and it was one of my dreams. I am happy being here!
